Fels Naptha Soap is Awesome

Filed under: Parenting, Tips and Tricks — Tags: , , — adventuresofsupermommy @ 1:22 am

So, according to a few people on the internet, Fels Naptha soap will get some pretty awful stains out of clothes.  I have kids, therefore, I have stains.  Kaylee had on a brand new yellow knit dress one day and managed to spill Heinz 57 sauce all the way down the front of it.

As soon as dinner was finished, we changed her clothes and started to pre-treat the stain with a stain stick.  Washing it in the sink the next day, no go.  Still there.  So, I put it in the sink and added a little of the Tide Stain Release.  This part is interesting, it turned the dark yellow stain PURPLE, but it didn’t come out.

I tried Dreft Stain remover, nope.

Keep in mind this dress has been soaking or washing for a few days by now…  I didn’t put it in the dryer, so it hasn’t gotten set by the heat.

So, I actually had to do a little research on where to get the Fels Naptha soap.  According to the internet, Ace Hardware sells it.  I called the one closest to me to ask if they carried it, and I was glad I did, because they didn’t.  So, I called the one that is about 15 – 20 miles away and they had it!  Yay!

For $1.29 plus tax, I had a bar of soap.  I dragged an old wet toothbrush over the bar of soap and gently attacked the stains.  All gone.  End of story.  Dress saved.  I am a believer.

I also hear it’s good for poison ivy.  I will never go without this stuff again.  Go get some.  Do it, now!

Got a baby shower coming up?  Throw a bar in with your gift.  Mommy will love you.  (post coming soon on great ideas for baby gifts that people don’t always think of)

See ya’ll soon, hopefully!
