New Recipe! Cheesecake Eggrolls!

Craving cheesecake?  Don’t want to wait two days to make one from scratch?  This recipe might stave off the craving just a little bit until you can make the real thing.

Okay, I’ve been wanting to try this idea for a while, but finally got around to it.

Applebee’s used to sell fried cheesecake.  I almost cried when they told me they didn’t have them anymore.

This isn’t quite exactly them, but this is SUPER EASY and quick.  From start to finish, it took maybe ten minutes since I had the fryer out already for dinner.

  • 1 package cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 4 -5 eggroll wrappers
  • “glue” a little flour and water to seal up the edges
  • Shortening or Oil for deep frying

Beat the cream cheese and sugar thoroughly.  You’re not making frosting here so you don’t have to beat them too long.  I didn’t even soften the cream cheese, I took it directly out of the fridge.

Place a heavy dollop of this mixture in the center of the wrapper and roll it up like you would make an eggroll.  This does take some practice, but you’ll get it.  (sorry, I didn’t take pictures of the construction)  Seal it up.

I cranked up my Fry Daddy as high as it would go.  You don’t have to really cook the contents, you just want to crisp and brown the outside.

The powdered sugar is just for pretties!

Ta-Dah!!!

Additions I’m going to try very soon:

  • Add a little vanilla extract
  • Add a little lemon juice or grated lemon zest
  • Add a few chocolate chips
  • Make a strawberry sauce for dipping….

Holy crap, these are pretty good.  They’re not as good as real cheesecake, but you know what?  For as quick as they are, they’re awesome!

See ya’ll soon!
